The summer kicking in and the heat is kind of taking me out of wanting to go to far to take a picture outside. On top of that deciding to get myself back to gym in the evenings kind of cuts out prime photo taking time. So pulling a few from the archives, from our trip to the Colorado Rockies opening day game against the D-Backs.

ok, so I got a little side tracked and didn't get a new photo taken today so I'm gonna use a spare pic of my black lab KC

Day 9 - Dominoes Delivery
So Jill and I were playing dominoes again tonight. Exciting....Anyway I needed a picture and thought this would be an appropriate way to work on narrowing the depth of field and using the flash on the camera I got this fun shot of the end of one round. A round I loss no less, but still was winning the game :)

Day 8 - Happy Saturday
Got this picture just messing around snapping shots, and happened to get a good picture of our yellow lab, Breck, sitting by the fence wanting to play fetch

Day 7 - Amber waves of grain
So its getting to be one of my favorite times of year. The wheat growing around my house is turning color and the sunsets always look so great here. I've always thought that it would make a great picture, but I've never taken the time to go out and take one or two. So tonight I did, but I just wasn't getting the effect I wanted from the raw pictures. I wanted something of a combination of the three pictures below with the focus of the wheat in the first one. The less washed out sunset in the second. And the overall lighting in the third one. While I am pretty sure I could get a better result using one of them and some Photoshop editing to get what I want, but I'd sure like to do it on the fly.

Day 6 - Lazy
Some days I think I may have two of the laziest labs in the world, it would seem that all they do is sleep. Well except when it is feeding time. That or they try to appear that they have such busy days that when I get home from work they are already worn out. Unless I happen to have a tennis ball or frisbee, that would seem to perk them up. Well today I know they got a walk with Jill in the morning, and then she got them a pool to cool off in in the back yard, and they had to go for a ride to my mom and dads while our house was being shown. Other than that not too much that should have had them tired out. Me on the other hand, some days, I can't help but take pictures of them or at least chuckle at how they sprawl out in the yard. They make easy targets for the camera and usually some fun photos.

Day 5 - Its a Caipirinha
So tonight Jill and I played a game of dominoes over drinks. She had a glass of wine, she said a type I wouldn't like...i.e. a dry wine. Me I prefer the sweet stuff, hence I had her make me a Caipirinha. This is a Brazilian Rum, Cachaça, mixed with a lime and sugar. Not to mention Cachaça is made from distilled sugar cane. These things are the best. And everytime Jill makes one for me, I modify a line from the Disney movie Tarzan, where a little elephant says "its a pirahana!" I get my drink, I say "its a Caipirinha!" Both notably are indigenous to south america. :)
As the pictures go, I was shooting for some work on bokeh, or trying to enhance the focus of the photo by blurring everything else. I like the last one, as it gives a full view of the drink and the game, the others I tried to play with the balance and the flash settings, but wasn't getting the results I was hoping for.
