Day 32 - My niece the hairdresser

So we are sitting around at my parents tonight, and my niece Kaityln, decided she wanted to do some salon work.  She started with my brother Todd, but then was on to her mom.  Snapped a couple cute ones.

Day 32 - one day late

It was bound to happen and last night it did....I forgot, I got lazy, and no picture no blog,  but I'll make up for it with one now and one a little later.  This afternoons shot, not so good.  Was going for a shot of the space between the rows of soybeans growing in the field outside the house, but it ends up as a close up shot of a single bean plant.

Day 31 - Running out of time

Day 26 - Light and perspective

Was out shooting the sunset again, and tried some different ISO settings to see what would provide a more dramatic picture of the sunset, I like the 100 setting more than the 800, probably should have tried 200 and 400 for more granularity, maybe another day....Then I revisited the wire picture I wanted to do. And a picture of Breck for Jill

Day 25 - Sunsets and S'mores

Not much to say tonight, just a shot of one of Kansas' great sunsets. And a few snacks.

Day 24 - Down at their level

I went out tonight to try and get a distance perspective photo. I kind of thought the wire for our electric fence would provide a good example of this, and it still might I just may have selected the wrong lens for that job.  So Instead I sat on the ground outside the fence and took some more pictures of our girls.

Day 23 - Flare gun

Decided to try some settings with time lapse and capturing light flares from one of Jills vases. The first was a ISO 1600 and 3.2 second delay on the shutter, while the second was at ISO 100 and a 10 second open shutter. I like the bigger flare in the second but there is better detail in the first, something I need to play with some more.

Day 22 - Lightning never strikes once

So another night, a great evening, cool comfortable and some storms to the east of here with some decent lighning, not much cloud to ground, but some. lots in the clouds across the sky. But I fail to have any luck capturing any with the shutter open.  even on 30 second times, its either whiting out or no flashes at all. Oh well tonight's shots...

Day 21 - Lightning and bugs

So one of my favorite things to go and take pictures of is lightning,  to try and capture a compelling shot is tough around my house though, no rolling hills or clean horizons.  And on nights when a good show is going on where it isn't raining, there always seems to be bugs. Specifically mosquitos. little pains in the you know what.  It doesn't make for a very easy way to get successful lightning shots. Evidence here.

Day 19 - Macro

Back to trying something different. I have a lens that is macro capable, but its not one of my favorites, its an off brand zoom lens.  Two things I probably won't do again, I really like the speed of my prime lenses, and I definitely will not by anything but Canon lenses for now on.  But I also want to do different perspectives and I have this one lens now. I've seen something called stacking done with macros but that requires some post processing which I am not doing here yet. I needed something quick before I would forget to post something today.

Day 18 - Who says White Dogs Can't Jump

So these are really supposed to be pictures I am taking myself but today it worked out that having Jill behind the lens taking some pictures we got some quite interesting photos of our dogs at play.  Really showing their athleticism. Ha ha

Day 17 - The only flowers that survive

Not the picture I wanted to take tonight, but was on the phone too long to go and grab one of the coyote that was strolling through the field behind the house. Which by the way my dogs didn't realize or care was that close.

Day 16 - The Inside Dog

I've been taking some shots of the dogs around here, but to this point I'd left our, er Jill's inside dog, Mousse, out. So here he is. Guarding the bed as he usually does.
